What it does
Tabula extracts PDF tables into CSV or spreadsheet data. Its interface lets users select a table region, preview the extracted result, and export it.
Tabula opens a local browser interface. Draw a box around a table, inspect the extraction preview and adjust the region before exporting; visual columns can otherwise become misleading data fields. It needs text-based PDFs, so scans require another recognition step. For repeat extraction, the Java engine offers ruled/unruled-table modes, column boundaries and CSV/TSV/JSON output. Its CLI defaults to page 1, so select the intended ranges or all pages. Windows/Linux need Java; the published Mac app bundles it.
