What it does
Tailscale creates an identity-based overlay network connecting remote devices, cloud infrastructure and internal resources.
Tailscale is a private-connectivity product rather than a city-selection consumer VPN. Its official page describes connecting devices and resources across clouds, on-premises networks and edge deployments, with identity-based access. A useful first deployment is a small set of devices and one clearly defined internal resource.
Treat access rules and device membership as part of the setup. Connecting a machine to a mesh is different from deciding which resources its user should reach.
The current Personal plan is for noncommercial use and permits six users with unlimited user devices, three ACL groups, fifty tagged resources and one thousand ephemeral-resource minutes each month. Tagged resources are distinct from user devices. Custom-domain signup begins a fourteen-day Enterprise trial; paid plans and legacy accounts have different allowances.
