What it does
TexturingXYZ sells skin and surface scans, character-texturing assets and related tutorials. Its VFace packs combine head geometry with maps and calibration references; the supplied files and licence depend on the selected product.
Mohammad #47 is one concrete VFace example: its page lists 16k EXR albedo and displacement, 8k utility maps, 1k ID masks, OBJ components and a ZTL file for ZBrush 2022 or later. The displayed pack price is US$39.90, with licence selection handled separately. These specifications do not describe every catalogue item.
Jonas Skoog's published Kenpachi workflow assembles a VFace pack in Houdini and V-Ray. Connect the supplied maps to AlSurface, use a hair shader for lashes and brows, then place the HDRI in a Dome Light. Rotate it to match the reference. His setup uses Utility-Linear-sRGB for the HDRI input and ACES-ACEScg for his rendering space; adjust light intensity against the supplied Macbeth chart. RGB masks and layered-texture controls then vary specular response and microdisplacement by facial zone.
That is an authored rendering example, not a standalone TexturingXYZ application. Faceform also documents a Wrap sample project that transfers selected VFace maps after the standard basemesh has been fitted to a character.
A Personal Single User licence permits a freelancer's own commercial work but does not cover a company or multiple users. Companies need the appropriate Business Commercial Project licence. External suppliers need prior written permission to handle the materials. Raw assets and standalone derived libraries cannot be resold; free giveaways also need express permission for commercial use.
Strengths
- VFace combines maps, geometry and calibration references for a coordinated shading setup.
- Facial masks support separate control of specular response and microdisplacement.
Watch out for
- Personal Single User licensing does not cover company or multi-user access.
- External handling and standalone redistribution are restricted by the licence.
Best for
- Character artists setting up scanned skin materials
- Studios selecting face data and project-specific asset permissions
