What it does

Thangs is a 3D model marketplace with free files, individual purchases, creator memberships and an opt-in multi-creator Bundle. It also provides upload tools, model collections and a separate physical Print Store.

Text search accepts exact phrases, with file-type and cost filters. A selected model's access and licence matter alongside its geometry. Purchased content appears in Settings under purchased, with separate memberships and model store folders.

For creators, MyThangs > Add New starts a single-file or multi-file upload. Files can be grouped as a multipart model. Upload & Edit opens the editor for images, description, tags and categories; new models are private by default. Add assembly notes and images in the instructions tab, then save. Those instructions accompany a model download as a PDF.

Collections add another choice: Public makes a browsing folder, while Marketplace lets the creator sell a set at a chosen bundle price. The upload guide excludes ZIP files and currently limits 3MF, FBX and GLB to single-part models, so not every file grouping is supported.

Creator memberships have their own download allowances and monthly or annual terms. Unused credits, including permitted rollover, expire when the membership ends. Discount commitments can prevent early cancellation.

Thangs Bundle includes only participating creators' selected models. Its terms currently allow 15 downloads per week and exclude commercial print-selling rights. Selling physical prints requires permission from the relevant designer; buying or subscribing is not a site-wide commercial licence.

Strengths

  • Creators can attach assembly instructions that travel with a download as PDF.
  • Collections can serve as browsing folders or separately priced model sets.

Watch out for

  • Bundle access excludes nonparticipating catalogues and commercial print-selling rights.
  • Unused membership download credits expire when the membership ends.
  • ZIP upload is unsupported, and some formats are limited to single-part models.

Best for

  • Creators preparing model listings with assembly information
  • Buyers comparing individual files with a specific designer's membership
