What it does
BluePlum Home Inventory, also called Home Inventory 4, records possessions across properties and locations. It attaches photos and documents, tracks loans and packing lists, and generates filtered reports.
BluePlum Home Inventory is useful for making an item record more complete than a name in a spreadsheet. Receipts, manuals, warranties, photographs and videos can stay with the possession, while rooms, properties, collections and tags provide different ways to organise it. Loan records and packing lists address later uses of that same inventory. Begin with one room and a handful of items whose documents are already available. Reports can then be filtered by location or tag and saved as PDFs. The Mac app requires macOS 11 or later and offers a time-limited trial before a one-time purchase.
For recovery, the app offers scheduled backups to iCloud Drive and a manual compressed backup containing the inventory and files, which can also move the inventory to a new Mac. The free iOS helper adds items and photographs; the main inventory application remains the Mac product.
Strengths
- Documents and media remain attached to the possessions they describe
- Several location and tagging structures support different inventory views
Watch out for
- The main inventory application requires a compatible Mac
Best for
