What it does
Theoi provides reference profiles of Greek mythological figures with ancient-text excerpts and classical artwork.
Choose a deity or creature, then distinguish the summary from the ancient passages collected beside it. Family trees and the alphabetical encyclopedia offer alternate routes. The project explicitly leaves detailed interpretation outside its scope, so use it to locate material before turning to critical scholarship for analysis.
Names on biography pages use Greek transliterations while indexes often use familiar Latin forms. If a name search fails, try the alternate form. The text library and profile-page quotation bibliography are separate collections.
Watch out for
- Detailed interpretation of the myths is outside the project's stated scope
