What it does
The Perfect Loaf is Maurizio's sourdough-baking resource. It includes beginner bread recipes, starter creation and maintenance guides, technique references and recipes for bread, pizza and other dough projects.
A new baker can begin with the starter route and beginner bread guide before choosing a more elaborate loaf. Those are separate tasks: keeping a starter and arranging a dough's baking schedule require different information.
The reference material covers hydration, levain, starter problems and baking in a home oven. Use the guide that explains the specific problem in front of you, then return to the recipe. Someone who already has an active starter can go directly to a weekday bread or another project, without repeating the beginner setup material.
The beginner bread recipe assumes a ripe starter and lays out a two-day schedule. It separates levain preparation, mixing, folds, shaping and overnight proofing, then gives covered and uncovered baking stages. Check that schedule and the listed baking vessel before starting a first loaf.
Strengths
- Starter care and bread making are covered as separate learning tasks.
- Technique guides address specific questions such as hydration and levain.
Best for
- Sourdough bakers building a starter routine or understanding dough methods.
