What it does
theXifer is a web metadata editor with batch operations, metadata copying, date-tag synchronization and reporting.
Upload a supported file, edit the metadata fields available for its format and download the result. Free editing and Premium batch editing are separate; Premium also offers metadata copying and reports. Cloud-source files are copied to the service's servers, then downloaded or written back to the cloud source. Google Drive keeps a new revision, while Dropbox replacement changes the stored file. The guide says edited downloads remain available for 15 minutes. Confirm Premium capacity for a large batch because the guide gives different combined upload limits.
Strengths
- Batch metadata copying and date synchronization
- Metadata reporting workflow
Watch out for
- Batch editing requires Premium, and edited downloads have a short availability window.
Best for
- Correcting or documenting image metadata
