What it does

Threedotstype publishes families such as Radius, Heneczek Pro, Tor Grotesk and New Zelek Pro, with specimens and in-use examples. The shop combines contemporary display experiments with historical revivals.

Radius is especially useful when type follows a curved surface. Its Top, Bottom and Width controls change different parts of the letter contours; try one axis first, then combine them around the intended shape. The variable file is included through All family, so an isolated static style does not provide the same controls.

The catalog also explains its historical sources. Heneczek Pro develops lettering associated with the Silesian printer Teodor Heneczek for display and longer texts, while Tor Grotesk draws on industrial DIN forms. The Trials page offers the collection with OpenType features and special characters active, after a name, email and required consent form. Those test files should not be treated as a free production licence.

Desktop, web, ebook and app licences are perpetual, with different limits. Desktop starts with one computer, web follows the selected view allowance, and ebook covers one title. Orders can be placed without registering an account, and the store sends a download link by email. The digital files are OTF or WOFF according to the chosen licence.

Strengths

  • Explains the historical sources behind individual families.
  • Trial files retain OpenType features and special characters.
  • Allows purchases without account registration.

Watch out for

  • Radius’s variable file requires the All family purchase option.
  • Separate output licences still apply despite their perpetual terms.

Best for

  • Variable display typography
  • Packaging and editorial projects using Polish design history
