What it does
X Lossless Decoder, or XLD, decodes and converts audio on Mac. It supports cue-sheet track splitting, CD ripping, and several lossless and lossy output formats.
For an album stored as one audio image plus a cue sheet, open the cue file to split it into individual tracks with the intended titles. The documentation distinguishes this from the raw-PCM opening route. TAK decoding has an additional Wine-related requirement, so verify the specific source format rather than treating every supported format identically.
The command-line form makes output handling explicit: -o chooses a filename or destination directory, -c splits by cue sheet, and -t selects tracks. With no options, the documented default is decoded WAVE output. Raw PCM input additionally needs its sample rate, bit depth and related format settings; the ordinary cue-sheet menu is the correct route for FLAC or APE album images.
Strengths
- Handles external and embedded cue sheets for track splitting.
Watch out for
- TAK decoding needs an additional compatibility component.
Best for
- Converting lossless album images into individual tracks on Mac
