What it does

Tonik Bank combines a mobile account with Solo and Group Stashes, time deposits and debit-card controls. Stashes let people name a savings goal and add a target amount or date. A Group Stash pools contributions, but its creator owns the balance and controls withdrawals.

Shared saving does not mean shared withdrawal authority at Tonik. A Group Stash’s balance, including interest, belongs to its creator. Only that owner can withdraw or close it, and withdrawals go to the owner’s Tonik Account. A household saving together needs to agree who will hold that role.

To make a Stash, tap the Stash tile on the Home Dashboard and choose Solo or Group. Add a goal picture, target amount and optional deadline. Group members receive an SMS invitation and need fully verified Tonik accounts. Existing owners can invite others through Manage Savers.

A Stash has no minimum saving amount or fixed holding period. For withdrawal, select it and use Manage → Withdraw. A Stash under Money Lock must first be released with biometrics or a live face scan. Separate card controls let the holder lock a card, block online transactions and adjust limits.

Costs and registration

Tonik charges no fee to own or maintain the account. Transfers to another Tonik account are free; outbound PESONet and InstaPay transfers cost ₱8, while QR Ph merchant payments are free. Physical debit-card issuance and replacement each cost ₱300. ATM charges are set by the acquiring bank.

Applicants must be Philippine resident citizens aged at least 18, with a Philippine address, a personally registered local mobile number, email and accepted government ID. Full identification allows up to five Solo or Group Stashes combined and five time deposits.

Strengths

  • Stashes support named goals, target amounts, deadlines and optional locking.
  • Individual card controls distinguish a card lock from blocking online purchases.

Watch out for

  • A Group Stash’s owner alone owns and can withdraw its pooled balance.
  • Outbound interbank transfers and physical debit cards have charges.

Best for

  • Philippine residents arranging individual saving goals
  • Households comfortable appointing one owner for a shared savings pool
