What it does

TopoGun rebuilds dense sculpts and scans into meshes with a more deliberate edge layout. It also bakes surface detail into texture maps for the lower-resolution result. The Windows and Mac application uses perpetual licences and offers a restricted evaluation mode.

Guide Lines keeps planning strokes visible over the reference surface while you work. Draw creates geometry from strokes; Patch fills connected areas, and the brush tools move or relax vertices against the reference.

The Morpher can update an existing retopology after the high-resolution sculpt changes. Map baking transfers details through normal, displacement, colour, ambient-occlusion and other maps, with selected map types produced in one pass.

Licence and evaluation

A standalone licence can be activated on two machines, with one running instance at a time. Floating licences use a licence server and allow concurrent instances up to the purchased seat count. Both are perpetual.

Download the Windows or Mac build to evaluate the tools. Demo mode cannot save scenes, subdivision data or baked maps, so it cannot deliver finished production files.

Strengths

  • Cross-platform licences cover both Windows and Mac.
  • Extract can separate part of a reference mesh for automatic retopology.

Watch out for

  • Demo mode is for evaluation only and cannot save its results.

Best for

  • Artists revising topology after changes to a dense sculpt
  • Teams combining manual retopology and map baking
