What it does
Tor Browser combines website isolation and fingerprint-resistance measures with browsing routed through the volunteer-run Tor network.
Tor Browser combines site isolation and fingerprint-resistance measures with traffic routed through the Tor network. Its built-in Security Level controls offer a practical choice: Standard permits JavaScript, Safer disables it on non-HTTPS sites, and Safest disables it on all sites. Open the shield menu and Settings to change the level; some pages will lose functionality.
The project discourages extra add-ons because they can change the browser's fingerprint or behavior, and it does not support those configurations. NoScript is already included. The bundle contains separately licensed components, including Firefox ESR under the Mozilla Public License and NoScript under the GNU GPL; Tor's own license and branding rules also apply.
