What it does

TraceParts provides supplier CAD models, drawings and technical data for engineering projects. Search by part reference or catalogue, then preview a configured component in the browser. Free accounts have limited CAD downloads and format access; a Pro subscription expands both.

A part-number search connects the model to a specific supplier component. After choosing a configuration, the browser viewer lets you inspect its shape before downloading. Catalogues cover mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and other engineering parts, with technical documents alongside the geometry.

TraceParts' written CATIA V5 guide gives a direct handoff: find a reference or catalogue, choose the CATIA V5 format, download and extract the file, insert it into CATIA V5, then display its nomenclature. Format availability depends on the component and account plan; a native file is available only when that catalogue offers it.

The Free plan covers more than 500 catalogues and allows six CAD-model downloads in a 24-hour period starting with the first download. Reaching the limit still leaves product browsing and technical-document downloads available. Pro costs EUR 9.99 per month on monthly billing or EUR 109.99 per year. It includes every offered catalogue and format, unlimited CAD downloads, downloads from search results, an ad-free interface and priority support.

Download access uses an account. The terms limit data use to computer-aided design or viewing and require written permission for redistribution through external services, websites or storage media. They also make users responsible for assessing supplier data's fitness and accuracy.

Strengths

  • Part references and configurable previews connect geometry with supplier products.
  • The written CATIA V5 route covers download, extraction and insertion.
  • Product browsing and technical documents remain available after the free CAD quota.

Watch out for

  • Free CAD downloads stop at six within each 24-hour period.
  • Native-format availability depends on the component and plan.
  • Redistributing the underlying data requires permission under the stated terms.

Best for

  • Engineers selecting identifiable supplier parts for CAD assemblies
  • Designers who need configurable components and accompanying technical data
