What it does
TradingDiary Pro imports broker records, groups options legs into strategies and produces portfolio, risk and net asset value reports. The Windows edition stores journals locally and has a one-time license after a 30-day trial. A separate browser edition is also available.
TradingDiary Pro's desktop journal stores each database as a file on your PC. It can hold multiple accounts, notes and years of trades. Copy the database folder for a backup, and keep the working file on a local drive because the database needs exclusive access.
For Interactive Brokers, the desktop import supports downloaded Flex XML statements or the Flex web service. In Import > Select Import Module > Settings, enter the service token and query IDs. The first service import brings in the last year and later imports fetch new activity. Older history can be added as XML files. Stop and target orders are not imported, so enter those separately when you need them in the journal.
Option legs are grouped into strategies with combined profit and loss. You can break apart a spread or assign legs manually when the automatic grouping does not match the intended position. This makes the journal useful for reviewing a whole spread alongside its constituent fills.
Desktop access and the browser alternative
The desktop license costs $149 once, covers two PCs and includes one year of upgrades. Later upgrades cost an optional $49 per year; the installed licensed version keeps working without renewal. EU VAT is added where applicable.
The 30-day desktop trial needs no email address. It disables capital-gains export and limits the tax report to 100 rows, then becomes read-only. The application also becomes read-only after five days without a successful license-server check, even though journal work itself runs locally.
The desktop edition requires Windows 10 or 11. The separate browser edition uses an online account and its own subscription plans, with a 30-day trial. Choose that edition if browser access matters more than keeping the journal database on your PC.
