What it does

Trading Economics publishes country indicators, market tables, economic news and a release calendar. Public pages can be browsed without an account. Data subscriptions and an application programming interface (API) provide separate routes for downloads and software integrations.

Look up a country or an indicator

The Countries and Indicators sections organize series such as inflation, interest rates and employment. The Calendar helps you follow scheduled releases. For example, a country comparison can place the latest inflation and unemployment figures beside growth data without treating those different measures as interchangeable.

Browser access versus a data subscription

Public tables serve quick lookups. Data Subscriptions, API Access and the Excel Add-In are separate links for recurring data work. Paid trials are not free: Trading Economics says the trial fee is non-refundable and the account is charged automatically unless cancelled before expiry.

Trial access is limited to 100,000 data points and 100 data requests. Choose the relevant data route before paying; access to a public chart does not establish permission to redistribute its underlying series.

Strengths

  • Combines country indicators with an economic calendar
  • Separate Excel add-in and API routes support recurring data work

Watch out for

  • Paid trial fees are non-refundable
  • Trial access has limits on data points and requests

Best for

  • Researching macroeconomic context across countries
