What it does
Transmission is an open-source BitTorrent client for macOS, Windows and Linux, with desktop interfaces, watch folders and a web interface.
Transmission offers native desktop clients and a web interface for a dedicated download machine. A watch folder can add .torrent files automatically, but its documented default is off and the feature applies to the daemon, GTK and Qt clients. Configure the download directory and, if wanted, an incomplete directory whose files move when complete. Speed limits and tracker controls help manage ongoing transfers. The current configuration reference also distinguishes Transmission 4’s older setting names from the newer format being introduced for version 5. The client is free without a paid feature tier; a torrent still needs available peers or supported sources to finish.
