What it does
tricount records who paid a shared expense and who should contribute, then calculates balances for housemates, couples, trips and events. The free iOS and Android app supports uneven shares, receipt photos and offline entry, with no daily expense cap or advertising in the expense tracker.
For a shared home, create one tricount for groceries and household bills. When adding a purchase, record its payer and include only the people who share that cost. That distinction prevents a personal purchase from being spread across everyone. Adjust the shares when an equal split would be unfair, such as when one person bought several tickets.
The group balance shows who owes what after several people have paid different bills. The suggested repayment may go to someone who did not pay your particular bill because tricount reduces the number of transfers needed across the whole group. My Total shows the expenses affecting you; Expenses total covers the group. Reimbursements are excluded from those spending totals.
You can add expenses without a signal and let them synchronize when you reconnect. Before settling, review the updated group balance so an offline purchase is not left out. Share the group link only with participants: tricount's terms explain that anyone with it can read and edit the ledger.
Core expense splitting is free. Optional bunq card and travel services have their own eligibility, terms and possible fees. The card can add purchases automatically, but you can use the shared expense list without choosing it.
