What it does

Truist’s digital banking combines electronic bills, payment scheduling, account history and mobile deposits. Card controls can restrict transaction types, amounts or locations. Truist One Checking has a US$12 monthly fee with several waiver options, and digital access is included.

An electronic bill can carry its own due date and reminder instead of being copied to a separate household calendar. Truist’s bill-pay tools show electronic versions of bills, track dates and let you choose payment frequency. Mobile deposits submitted by 9 p.m. Eastern Time normally become available the next business day, excluding holds, holidays and weekends.

Immediate availability is an optional paid service when offered. Under the September 2026 tariff, it costs 2% for a check of US$100 or more, or US$1 for an eligible check below US$100. Checks under US$5 are ineligible. Standard availability has no charge.

Control individual cards

Open Main Menu → Card Controls in the app or More → Card Controls online. Settings can block specific transaction types, including ATM, digital-wallet, international, online or phone purchases. You can also set a single-transaction amount and geographic restrictions. Locking one debit card does not stop other debit cardholders’ cards.

For activity notifications, use My Settings → Alerts online, verify your mobile number, choose preferences and save. Alerts cover balance thresholds, card transactions and changes to account details.

Truist One Checking costs

The account requires US$50 to open and has no overdraft-related fees. Avoid its US$12 monthly maintenance fee through a qualifying route: US$500 in direct deposits per statement cycle, US$500 in combined eligible ledger balances at the specified cycle-end check, a qualifying Truist borrowing relationship, linked small-business checking, student status, or a primary owner under 25 or aged 62 and over.

Students must be the primary owner and give an expected graduation date for their student waiver. International students studying in the US can open at a branch with proper documentation without an SSN. Once an account is opened, create an online banking profile and use that username and password in Truist Mobile.

Strengths

  • Card settings can limit individual transaction amounts, regions and payment types.
  • Electronic bills combine due dates with payment-frequency settings.
  • Online and mobile banking are included with an eligible account.

Watch out for

  • Immediate check availability costs extra and is not offered for every deposit.
  • The student-specific fee waiver ends on the declared graduation date.

Best for

  • Truist customers coordinating bills and card-use settings
  • US students using the student waiver on Truist One Checking
