What it does

Trust Payments combines an online gateway, in-person payment acceptance and acquiring services for businesses. Its merchant accounts and portal support collection across sales channels, with a European offering through Trust Payments Malta. Merchants apply through the team and receive an account after underwriting approval; pricing is arranged for the business.

Pay by Link is available to TRU Connect gateway merchants. Under Payments, choose Pay by Link and select the Site reference, an enabled currency and the amount. Add an order reference to make the sale easier to locate later. Generate Link creates a URL that Copy Link places on the clipboard; filling Email Details and choosing Send Email delivers it directly.

Advanced settings include a settlement due date, stored-payment credentials and a Payment Pages profile for the checkout’s appearance. Suspended settlement keeps an authorized transaction waiting until its status is updated. The Manual option bypasses the enabled internal fraud and duplicate checks, so it has a different effect from postponing collection.

For card payments, the gateway sends pending settlement instructions to the acquirer daily. The bank’s processing and the merchant agreement determine when money reaches the account. Admin users can open Merchant Numbers, choose the company and Merchant ID, and inspect the account and balance information. Active - Hold Pay means processing remains enabled while settlement is suspended.

Trust Payments Malta serves businesses in the European Union and European Economic Area. For another country or a combined gateway and acquiring setup, confirm eligibility, currencies, underwriting documents and the full tariff with the team.

Strengths

  • Fee Summary reports can be exported to CSV or XLSX and separate transactions, adjustments, fees and reserve activity.
  • Merchant accounts can be configured separately by currency or sales channel.

Watch out for

  • Each Pay by Link is for one customer and expires after 14 days.
  • Pay by Link requires Admin or PaybyLink permissions and an ecommerce-enabled merchant account.
  • An on-screen Fee Summary covers at most 5,000 records; larger results require an export.

Best for

  • Merchants coordinating website and physical-store receipts
  • Businesses collecting remote customer bills through an approved gateway account
  • Finance teams investigating settlement balances and fee deductions
