What it does
Trust Wallet is a free phone app and browser extension for crypto transfers, swaps and application connections. Its scanner flags known transaction risks while leaving approval with the user.
Trust Wallet puts everyday wallet actions alongside services from external providers. The app is free on iOS and Android, and creating a wallet does not require an account. A browser extension is also available. Network charges and provider fees can apply to swaps or purchases, so free wallet access does not mean a free transaction.
For Chrome or Brave, follow the official Chrome Web Store link, check the publisher and select Add to Chrome. Create a wallet or import an existing one, set the password for this device and pin the extension. Importing the same wallet on mobile and desktop lets either interface read its blockchain balances; it also means both devices need protecting.
Manual backup is available from the mobile settings gear. Select the wallet, choose the manual backup option and Back up now, then authenticate with the device passcode or Face ID. Record the words in their displayed order and complete the confirmation. Trust Wallet also offers encrypted backups in your own iCloud or Google Drive, protected by a password that it cannot reset.
On a replacement phone, select I already have a wallet and the Secret Phrase import method. Choose Multi-Coin Wallet where appropriate and enter the saved words in order. The phrase belongs in the genuine app, never in a support message.
The Security Scanner compares requests with known risk signals and can warn about addresses or application connections. It cannot certify that an asset or contract is safe. Read the requested action before approving it. Cross-chain swaps use external bridges that Trust Wallet does not operate, and local-currency purchases use third-party providers with separate requirements. A bad approval or a lost recovery backup can result in permanent loss.
Strengths
- A wallet can be accessed from both mobile and the browser extension
- Documents manual backup, encrypted cloud backup and replacement-device recovery
- Transaction prompts flag known risky addresses and connections
Watch out for
- Cloud recovery still depends on a password Trust Wallet cannot reset
- Cross-chain transfers rely on outside bridge providers
- A scanner warning system cannot validate every contract or asset
Best for
- People using a supported wallet from both a phone and a browser
- Users who want explicit backup controls alongside application access
