What it does

Trycolors combines manual paint mixing with automatic recipes from a selected starting palette. Basic exploration is available without registration; an account saves mixtures and recipes. A free Hobby plan and paid plans provide different tool limits.

Tap a tube to add one part, use its minus control to remove one, or enter a fractional amount such as 0.3 through the tube’s information control. Get Mix calculates a recipe from the selected paints and loads those parts back into the mixer for further adjustment.

Recipes can be shown in parts, millilitres, fluid ounces or grams, and downloaded as a PDF. Fewer parts are easier to measure; more parts follow the target more closely. Gram amounts are pigment-based estimates, so brands can differ. The practical guide includes comparing a dried swatch and adjusting the mixture by eye.

Plan boundaries

Plan Main allowance
Hobby, free 3 recipes and 3 mixing charts daily; 20 Pro-mode uses and 20 tinting-strength uses daily; up to 10 created and 10 starting palettes
Pro Unlimited listed mixing tools, recipes, charts and palettes; Repaint adds photo uploads
Classroom Pro features and no ads for up to 30 students
Business Custom pricing, a mixing engine for the business’s paints, API access and custom support

Pro offers monthly and yearly billing. Cancellation leaves access active until the paid period ends; palettes and recipes remain in the account. Switching billing frequency requires help from Trycolors.

The terms allow results for your own painting projects but prohibit using them to build a model, dataset or product that substitutes for the service.

Strengths

  • Automatic recipes can be adjusted further in the manual mixer.
  • PDF recipes and several measurement units support taking a mixture to the painting table.

Watch out for

  • Hobby limits advanced tools per day and caps saved palette counts.
  • Gram quantities are estimates and can vary between paint brands.
  • Switching between monthly and yearly billing requires contacting support.

Best for

  • Artists planning and refining recipes from paints they already own.
