What it does

Twelve Data supplies market prices, financial datasets and technical indicators through APIs, WebSockets and spreadsheet integrations. The free Basic plan covers a limited set of markets for internal use. Paid plans expand market coverage and request capacity, with some exchange feeds sold as add-ons.

Budget credits, not just requests

Basic allows eight API credits a minute and 800 a day. A request can use several credits: requesting a time series for three symbols consumes three, while the income-statement example uses 100 per symbol. The documentation gives each endpoint its weight.

WebSocket allowances are separate and count subscribed symbols. Basic includes trial WebSocket access, so its eight trial credits should not be treated as an unrestricted ongoing streaming service.

Choose a market-data plan

Plan Access
Basic Free; eight API credits a minute and 800 a day, with limited markets
Grow, Pro and Ultra Paid subscriptions with higher capacity and additional datasets; coverage differs by tier

Create an account through Start with Basic. Use the plan comparison to check the particular markets included in each paid tier. Exchange add-ons may require approval and depend on personal or commercial licence status. For a public app, compare business terms before using an individual plan marked for internal, non-display use.

Strengths

  • Endpoint weights make it possible to estimate a research workload
  • API and WebSocket allowances are explained separately

Watch out for

  • Multi-symbol and financial-statement calls can consume many credits
  • Some exchange datasets need a separate add-on and approval

Best for

  • Developers mixing stocks, currencies and crypto data
  • Researchers estimating API capacity for a fixed set of symbols
