Type.ai

What it does

Type.ai is an AI editor for long-form creative writing. It combines a document editor with AI chat, story notes, custom style rules, and export to DOCX, PDF, or narrated audio. It is aimed at writers working on books, novels, screenplays, and stories.

Type.ai is a writing environment for people working on books, screenplays, and other long projects. The draft and AI assistant sit in the same document, so you can ask for changes without copying text between tools. Story notes save characters, settings, and scenes, which helps the AI give specific suggestions. You can set custom writing rules to match your style, and export a draft as DOCX, PDF, or a view-only URL. The editor also supports offline mode, keyboard shortcuts, and version history. A careful user should check the credit system, since AI features use credits that reset monthly on paid plans, and confirm the 150,000 word per document limit before starting a very long manuscript. The free plan includes limited credits that never expire. No API is mentioned for external integration.
