What it does
TYPE BY publishes retail font collections by designers including Fred Smeijers and Thomas Thiemich. Its family pages let you preview custom text and OpenType features. Desktop and web licences are perpetual purchases; downloadable trial fonts are not offered.
Type your own text under a style on a family page, then use the toggles to change its size, apply the text across styles or preview OpenType features. TYPE BY’s help page gives a specific example: enter 1885, then enable Small Capitals from Capitals to preview small-cap figures where the family supports them.
There are no downloadable trials, so the website preview is the evaluation route before purchasing. Desktop licensing counts devices, including those reached through an Adobe Creative Cloud account. Web licensing covers the registered domain and its subdomains at the purchased pageview tier.
Every organisation needing the font files requires its own coverage. Font conversion and character subsetting are prohibited; TYPE BY offers custom subsets as a paid service.
