What it does

Typerepublic publishes original fonts, script extensions and modular systems including Barna, Pradell, Carmen and SuperVeloz. Its family pages combine testing, design history and trial requests.

SuperVeloz works as a kit of parts. Its shapes combine into letters, illustrations and symbols, following Joan Trochut’s metal-type system as digitised by Andreu Balius and Àlex Trochut. Switch among the Basic, Complement and RasgosVeloz styles to examine the different modules. Alignment, colour and column controls help compare an assembled treatment with a regular text layout.

The wider catalog includes conventional text and display families, with Arabic and Cyrillic projects separately named. Trial requests use a form for your name and email, after accepting the trial terms. These files have a limited character set and are only for evaluation, excluding published and student work.

Desktop and web licences are perpetual purchases; web use retains a monthly pageview limit. The separate Server option renews yearly. After a successful purchase, the shop provides an immediate ZIP download and invoice, followed by a personalised licence document. Clients who install the fonts need their own coverage. Student discounts are available by emailing proof of enrolment.

Strengths

  • Combines conventional families with a modular construction system.
  • Explains SuperVeloz’s origins and its separate component styles.
  • Provides the font ZIP immediately after payment.

Watch out for

  • Trial fonts exclude student work and published use.
  • Web traffic limits still apply, and Server licensing renews annually.

Best for

  • Modular lettering and event identities
  • Designers comparing independent text and display type
