What it does
Uber’s passenger service provides app-based rides in supported cities and airports. Travellers can enter pickup and destination details to see prices, choose a locally available ride type or investigate an advance reservation.
Use the city or airport directory before relying on a ride at the destination. Available categories differ, and a general product catalogue does not establish what will be offered at a particular pickup. Uber XL is described for groups of up to six, while group-ride tools help coordinate friends travelling together.
Reserve allows some journeys to be arranged up to 90 days ahead. That can be useful when organising an airport departure, but the actual booking supplies the available category and conditions. Teen accounts have a separate, explicitly limited-location route with notifications and journey updates for the responsible adult. For a straightforward trip, start with the pickup, destination and required time, then compare the displayed choices. Keep airport instructions and the selected vehicle’s capacity with the plan rather than treating every Uber service as interchangeable.
Select the intended payment method before requesting. In cities that accept cash, Uber says you cannot switch to or from cash during or after the trip. The app shows payment details beneath the ride choices.
