What it does

UniBee manages SaaS subscriptions, usage charges, invoices and payment-gateway connections. Businesses can use hosted checkout pages or connect their own application through its API. A free edition is available for self-hosting under the AGPLv3 licence, alongside paid cloud and managed deployment options.

Connect checkout to your application

Each active plan has a checkout link in the admin portal. After purchase, a configured return URL carries identifiers for the payment, subscription and invoice. Your application can retrieve the invoice or subscription details and finish customer onboarding. Webhook events report paid invoices and activated subscriptions when a browser callback is delayed or missed.

Existing customers can move to a hosted subscription-change page generated by an API call. It previews changes before confirmation. Sandbox tools let developers exercise payment flows and advance subscription events without waiting for a real billing period. Webhook endpoints must be reachable through a public HTTPS address.

Choose who runs the software

The self-hosted edition needs manual setup and uses community support. Its deployment guide requires Docker, Docker Compose and Git, then starts the database, Redis and UniBee API containers.

Cloud Starter allows five billing administrators; Business allows twenty and adds dedicated technical support. Managed deployment has a separate commercial arrangement. UniBee's platform pricing does not take a percentage of revenue.

Strengths

  • Coupons can use fixed or percentage discounts with expiry and usage controls
  • Usage pricing can combine flat rates, volume tiers and recurring charges

Watch out for

  • Self-hosting requires manual setup and includes community support only

Best for

  • SaaS teams choosing between a self-hosted billing system and managed service
