What it does
Unusual Whales provides options-flow analysis, off-exchange stock prints, gamma-exposure views and public trading disclosures. Users can save filters and contracts and receive custom alerts. Free accounts show delayed data; paid dashboard plans provide current flow with different allowances.
Start with a ticker or options contract, then choose the view that answers the question. Flow describes transactions, while gamma exposure estimates how options positioning relates to dealers’ hedging needs. A disclosure of a politician’s holdings is another dataset again. Combining these views is useful only when their dates and meanings remain clear.
The gamma tools show exposure by strike, a zero-gamma level and historical comparisons with the S&P 500 index. These are analytical estimates, not a complete view of every dealer’s book. Saved flow filters can also drive website or mobile notifications.
| Dashboard tier | Annual billing shown | Main allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Delayed dashboard, saved filters and watchlists |
| Retail Basic | $504 yearly | Live flow; 25 alerts and five watchlists |
| Retail Pro | $756 yearly | Unlimited alerts, watchlists and custom dashboards |
| Retail Max | $1,224 yearly | Pro features plus one-minute SPX exposure updates |
Free flow is delayed by two trading days, news by 15 minutes and alerts by 30 minutes. Monthly billing is also offered. Create an account to use the free features; no credit card is required for that route.
The data API, a programming interface for custom tools, is a separate product. An API subscription does not include website or mobile-app access, so choose Dashboard & Tools when the ready-made interface is what you need.
