What it does
Upbit provides crypto markets, account balances and order-management interfaces. The supplied upbit.com site serves the Korean market, where verification and a linked Kbank account determine which markets an individual can use. Separate regional services have their own documentation.
Which Korean markets can an account use?
Upbit requires age 19 or above and completed customer verification. Its Korean policy excludes nonresidents, including Korean nationals living abroad. Foreign residents need the specified proof of residence and at least 30 days remaining on their permitted stay.
Accepted identity documents include Korean resident or driving identification and the listed foreign-resident documents. Passports and temporary identity documents are not accepted for this verification.
A verified Kbank account is additionally required for the KRW market. Completing identity checks without that bank connection leaves BTC and USDT markets available under the published policy. An unverified account cannot trade, deposit or withdraw.
Replacing an existing order
In the app, open 투자내역 → 미체결, meaning investment history and unfilled orders. The pencil icon opens the replacement controls. Choose a limit or market order and enter the required price, quantity or total. A market buy uses a KRW total; a market sell uses an asset quantity.
The chart also supports order-line controls when both the unfilled-order line and chart replacement settings are enabled. Moving the line cancels the old instruction and submits a new limit order. Its price may be adjusted to a permitted price increment.
Watch for fills during replacement. Upbit warns that a partial fill of the old order before cancellation, followed by the replacement, can produce a larger combined fill than expected. Recheck the resulting position instead of assuming the displayed replacement amount is the entire transaction.
Market feeds and account reports
Upbit divides its API, a connection for other software, into quotation, exchange and WebSocket functions. Public quotations include pairs, candles, trades and order books. Exchange functions handle orders, balances and funding, while streams report market activity and personal orders.
A balance query requires an authenticated key with the asset-query permission. If it returns an out-of-scope error, check that permission in API Key Management.
The separate global developer center links Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Use the documentation for the account's actual region; the Korean Kbank and residence requirements should not be copied into those services.
How charges are applied
Trading commission is calculated from the filled amount and the market's fee rate. Buying adds that charge to the purchase cost; selling deducts it from the proceeds. Promotional rates can depend on when the order was submitted.
The fee-help page directs users to the desktop web fee table, which is not supported on mobile. Check the market and order type there before submitting, particularly when an event changes the regular rate.
Strengths
- Replacement controls expose order type, price, quantity and total before resubmission
- Balance-query documentation states the exact API permission needed
Watch out for
- KRW markets require a verified Kbank account in addition to customer verification
- An old order can partially fill during replacement and increase the combined executed amount
Best for
- Eligible Korean residents managing existing crypto orders or connecting account reports
