What it does
Fathom Analytics reports pages, traffic sources, campaign links and custom conversion events. A multi-site view brings website totals together, and an API and exports support external reporting.
Fathom charges for the combined pageviews and custom events across your sites. The entry allowance is 100,000 per month for USD 15 per month, with at least 50 sites included. Plans include events, revenue tracking, exports, email reports and the API; higher traffic needs a larger allowance. There is no permanent free plan. The seven-day trial requires a card and becomes paid unless you cancel.
Compare a campaign period
- Sign up, create a site and embed its tracking script. Choose the site from the name at the dashboard's top left.
- Set the reporting dates and check the site's timezone. Click a page or referrer to filter the dashboard to that traffic.
- Use + Add comparison beside the date picker, then choose the previous period or a custom range.
- Click a metric in the totals box to chart both periods. For more detail, open a report box's details view and add a secondary dimension such as device type or a campaign parameter.
Views and visitors answer different questions: one visitor may load several pages. Event values also need a clear definition before treating them as revenue. Fathom says it resets visitor identification every 24 hours, so its visitor count is not a long-term customer history.
Strengths
- An all-sites view supports reviewing several websites together.
- Custom events can carry a monetary value.
Watch out for
- Traffic and custom events count against one allowance across the account.
- The trial requires a card and starts paid billing unless cancelled.
Best for
- Agencies and site owners reporting traffic and a focused set of conversions
