What it does
Userlist provides behavior-based email automation for software businesses. Its data model includes users, companies and relationships, allowing a company-level event to trigger a workflow whose recipients are selected by role or other criteria. Paid accounts start with a 14-day trial that requires card details.
Userlist is useful when a subscription belongs to a company but several people use it. Record the company-level event once, then choose which team members should receive the message based on their role or use case. That is different from copying the same event onto every person's profile.
The vendor's onboarding process starts with a tracking plan, segmentation plan and lifecycle roadmap. The resulting tracking plan goes to the developers implementing the API connection. For a team introducing onboarding email, that sequence gives the writer and developer a shared definition of what each message needs to know.
Billing uses the previous thirty days' highest user count and includes stored users even when recently inactive. Accounts that are no longer used can therefore still increase the bill. User removal is available through the API, while marketing leads and customers can coexist in the same tool.
Basic includes company accounts, visual workflows and transactional email; Professional adds split tests and conversion goals. The 14-day trial requires card details at signup. The trial is useful for checking your tracking plan against real product events before committing to a subscription.
