What it does
UserOnboard is a free reference about first-run product experiences. It combines dated onboarding teardowns, cross-referenced patterns and design articles. A separate Training section offers an onboarding book and expert-review services.
Open Teardowns to study a particular product’s first-run experience. The Zapier entry is dated July 2024 and provides a numbered slideshow with previous and next controls. These dated walkthroughs describe the interface at the time of the study, so they are historical examples rather than a guarantee of an app’s current screens.
Patterns groups examples by a more specific problem, including empty states, permission priming, sensible defaults and success states. The permission-priming entry explains what the pattern is, when it helps and how it appears in different products, with links back to the relevant teardown moments.
The public patterns and teardowns require no account or payment. Training leads to the separately offered book and onboarding-review service. Use the free reference when you want to compare how a product explains its benefit, introduces a task or asks for access.
