What it does
UX Metrics provides card sorting, tree testing and other interface-research methods. Its platform includes first-click, preference, prototype and website tests, interviews and a research repository.
For a card sort, add the content cards and choose how categories will be defined. An Open Sort lets participants create and name groups, a Closed Sort uses your predefined groups, and a Hybrid Sort combines the two. Share the study link, then inspect which cards people grouped together in the similarity matrix. The clustering view has an adjustable threshold, while the placement matrix shows how cards were distributed across groups.
The Free account has no time limit and includes all nine research methods. It allows one study per method, three participant responses per study and one researcher seat. Pro removes the published-study and response caps, with monthly or annual billing for each seat. Participants access studies through a browser link without creating their own account.
Pro also includes report exports, custom branding, password-protected reports and controls such as card or task randomization. The Figma integration is still marked Coming Soon; use the currently available study inputs when planning a prototype test.
A card sort can help develop a navigation structure, then a tree test can check whether participants find the intended destinations in that hierarchy.
