What it does
V&A collection search covers fashion, textiles, photographs, furniture, posters and other design objects. Maker, material, technique, place and date filters connect images with the objects’ history and construction.
After searching, limit results to objects with images and expand the Material or Technique filters for a process-led brief. List View can sort by artist or maker, date or place of origin.
Eligible high-resolution downloads reach up to 2,500 pixels on the longest side. Accept the terms before downloading; the session lasts 30 minutes before acceptance must be renewed. Some copyrighted works have no high-resolution download.
Free noncommercial reproduction has specific limits. Qualifying academic print use allows one edition of up to 4,000 copies, with images no larger than A5 and inside the publication. Covers, commercial uses, exhibition displays and larger reproductions go through V&A Images for a fee. The free collection terms also limit the proportion of V&A material in a project and require the museum credit.
