What it does

Canvas X Draw combines vector drawing, raster editing and technical annotation on Windows and Mac. Numeric positioning, drawing scales and dimension objects support diagrams where measurements matter. It offers annual subscriptions and perpetual licences, with major upgrades treated differently under each option.

Keep drawings and annotations editable

Start with File > New and set the document size and resolution. The Smart Toolbox contains drawing tools, while numerical coordinates, grids and snapping help position objects. SmartLines keep callouts connected as annotations move.

A reusable symbol can contain vector shapes, text or a painted object. Editing that symbol in the library updates its copies throughout the document. Sprite effects preserve the underlying editable object when applying image and transparency effects.

Share a technical document

PDF export can embed Canvas data so the document can be reopened without discarding its editable structure. Password controls can restrict opening, editing and printing.

Annual access includes new releases. A perpetual licence covers its purchased version and maintenance patches, with future major versions sold separately. Both follow the publisher’s end-of-life policy. The product page also advertises offline licensing through the sales team.

Strengths

  • Library-symbol edits update existing document copies
  • PDFs can retain editable Canvas data
  • Coordinates and drawing scales support measured illustrations

Watch out for

  • Perpetual licences exclude future major upgrades
  • Updates and support end when a version reaches its end-of-life date

Best for

  • Technical illustrators preparing measured diagrams
  • Teams maintaining annotated engineering documents
