What it does
Veeam ONE monitors the infrastructure that protects and hosts workloads. It collects status and performance data from Veeam Backup & Replication, virtual platforms, and related Veeam products, then presents job views, infrastructure dashboards, alarms, reports, diagnostics, and utilization trends. The focus is operational visibility around backup and virtualization, including whether jobs complete on time and which resources are becoming bottlenecks. It is a companion to Veeam's data-protection and virtualization environment rather than a general-purpose distributed tracing service.
Follow a backup problem from job to resource
Start by connecting Veeam ONE to the Veeam Backup & Replication servers and virtualization sources you need to watch. In the Summary dashboards, review recent backup, replication, and SureBackup job states, then inspect the proxies, repositories, gateways, and other components associated with delayed or failed work. Veeam's user guide describes drilling into performance charts for CPU, memory, disk, and network activity when a job problem may be caused by resource pressure rather than the backup task itself.
The Alarms dashboard provides the related event and alert context. Veeam ONE also documents automatic diagnostics that can attach recommendations and knowledge-base references to known configuration problems. Capacity-planning reports help teams see utilization trends for VMware, Hyper-V, and backup infrastructure before scheduled growth exceeds available resources.
This product is most useful when Veeam backup health and the infrastructure underneath it need to be considered together. It does not replace the backup products it monitors, and initial value depends on configuring the correct servers and credentials. The Windows-based Community Edition is free but feature-limited: it covers up to 10 Veeam Backup & Replication monitored instances. Paid Veeam ONE licenses include perpetual, subscription, and service-provider rental options; the reviewed sources do not establish a current universal price.
Strengths
- The product page lists more than 340 preset alarms and 150 prebuilt reports for infrastructure and backup operations.
- Job status, infrastructure performance charts, and backup component alarms can be investigated in the same monitoring workflow.
- Capacity planning and chargeback reports help teams relate resource use to future demand or departments.
Watch out for
- Community Edition is feature-limited and caps free Veeam Backup & Replication monitoring at 10 instances.
- The installation must be connected to the relevant Veeam and virtualization servers with suitable credentials.
Best for
- Veeam administrators checking backup, replication, and SureBackup health alongside repository and proxy performance.
- Infrastructure teams forecasting VMware or Hyper-V utilization and capacity.
