What it does
Vespr is a free Cardano wallet for iOS, Android and browser extensions, with no account, email or phone signup. It combines a built-in application browser, DexHunter-routed swaps and Ledger or Keystone connections; Bitcoin remains marked as coming soon.
Changing phones is an important preparation task with Vespr. The phone's ordinary migration or cloud backup can copy app data without the device-bound encryption key. On the new phone, Vespr can therefore report Phone Migration Detected and remove the unreadable wallets.
Before moving, open Settings and Recovery Phrase on the original installation and back up every software wallet. Reinstalling uses Restore wallet, or Use recovery phrase under New Wallets if another wallet is already present. Ledger and Keystone accounts are different: reconnect the hardware device instead of typing its recovery phrase into Vespr.
New software wallets are created before the phrase-backup step, so complete the Home-screen backup reminder before adding funds. Vespr uses separate wallets rather than sub-accounts; creating another wallet means another backup to preserve.
For a Cardano swap, open Swap, choose the outgoing and incoming tokens and enter the amount. Review Swap shows the expected receipt and minimum acceptable amount. After confirmation, follow the order in the orders view; a route split among several exchanges can fill in parts. The in-wallet Swap tab places market orders, and a price outside the chosen slippage tolerance can leave an order waiting.
The app is free, but a swap can include Vespr's service charge, the Cardano network charge and a processing fee for each exchange used. Tap Fees for the itemized breakdown. Deposit shows money held while an order remains open, returned when it completes or is cancelled. That held deposit is distinct from a fee.
Vespr's terms require users to be at least eighteen and comply with applicable sanctions and local rules. Connected services apply their own terms. Price warnings and a verified-token filter do not eliminate the possibility of trading losses.
Strengths
- Hardware-wallet connections work on both mobile platforms and supported browser extensions
- A native application browser provides access to Cardano sites
- Biometric authentication is available for local access
Watch out for
- Every separate software wallet needs its own saved recovery phrase
- The in-wallet Swap tab supports market orders rather than creating limit or stop-loss orders
Best for
- Cardano users who want an itemized swap-route cost breakdown
- People preparing a deliberate software- or hardware-wallet move to a new phone
