What it does
Visivo connects data sources, SQL models, metric definitions, interactive charts and dashboards in a common project. Its visual editor and local tools work with the same versioned definitions, with cloud hosting and paid collaboration available.
Visivo keeps data models, metrics and dashboards in a project that can be edited visually or in code. Its local command-line tools can run without cloud hosting; the optional cloud service publishes results for others.
The quickstart uses Python 3.12 or newer. After installing Visivo, run visivo init --example ev-sales --no-onboarding. This creates the example's YAML definitions, DuckDB database and CSV data, then starts the local application. Wait for Initial Data Refresh Complete, open the local interface on port 8000, and choose Dashboards > EV Sales. Editing the project updates the local dashboard.
To publish a project, authorize a cloud account, run visivo run, then deploy with visivo deploy -s production. Cloud receives the prepared data from that deployment rather than holding the source database credentials.
| Cloud plan | Access |
|---|---|
| Free | Continuing individual access and initial usage credit |
| Platform | Paid workspace subscription with unlimited teammates and discounted usage |
| Enterprise | Custom access with single sign-on and own-cloud options |
AI-agent runs and scheduled builds draw on prepaid credit. When it runs out, those operations stop while existing dashboards stay readable. The local repository is GPL-3.0 licensed.
Strengths
- Shares analytical definitions between visual editing and version-controlled code.
- Can publish prepared results without giving the cloud service database credentials.
Watch out for
- AI-agent runs and scheduled builds stop when the usage-credit balance is exhausted.
Best for
- Analysts and engineers sharing metric definitions and dashboard code
