What it does
Colour Contrast Analyser checks colour contrast on Windows and Mac. Eyedroppers, typed CSS colour values and sliders set the pair, with foreground alpha transparency and report copying. The application is free software under GPL version 3 or later.
A screen sampler can inspect a slide, PDF or application interface as well as a web page. Capture the foreground and background, then adjust their values while viewing the contrast ratio and text or non-text examples. Swap the pair to examine the reverse treatment.
Short and long report formats copy results for an assessment, and preferences can change their layout and the ratio precision. The current product page covers WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 contrast methods. A passing pair describes that selection; it does not establish conformance for an entire page or interface.
Transparency is supported on the foreground colour. Several colour-vision simulations offer another view of the pair, alongside the numeric contrast result.
Strengths
- Eyedroppers sample displayed content across desktop applications.
- Copied reports can use short, long or customised formats.
Watch out for
- Alpha transparency applies to the foreground, not both colours.
Best for
- Designers and reviewers recording specific contrast findings
