What it does
VisualSitemaps generates visual website maps and screenshots from crawled pages. Its platform supports content planning, flow creation, structural analysis and exportable reports.
VisualSitemaps turns an existing website into a map of linked page screenshots, which gives a redesign team a view of both structure and page appearance. It also supports content planning, user flows and reports that can be exported as PDF, Markdown or CSV.
Enter a root URL or a particular subdirectory, set Max Pages and Max Page Depth if you need to limit the crawl, then choose Crawl Now. Pages outside the starting directory are excluded by default. Advanced settings can filter directories, keywords and URL parameters, hide a cookie popup or delay screenshots while content loads.
For a large site, begin with a small page allowance to check the screenshots before spending more crawl credits. A paused crawl can resume after changing its page or depth cap; a crawl that you stop cannot be restarted.
The free account supplies 25 page crawls per month, a maximum of 25 pages per sitemap, two levels of crawl depth and three users. Paid subscriptions increase those allowances and add capacity for larger audits. The separate seven-day Pro trial has its own 25-page allowance.
Strengths
- Visual maps connect page hierarchy with screenshots.
- Crawl filters and screenshot settings help narrow a website audit.
- Reports can be exported for structural review and planning.
Watch out for
- Free crawling is capped at 25 pages per month and two levels of depth.
- Stopping a crawl is final; it cannot be resumed like a paused crawl.
Best for
- UX teams assessing existing website information architecture
