What it does
Volt provides account-to-account payment infrastructure for merchants, including bank checkout, refunds, payouts and treasury accounts. It connects services in the UK, Europe, Brazil and Australia through a common integration. Businesses apply for approval and agree merchant terms before production access; pricing is arranged with the sales team.
A payment link can turn an emailed bill into a bank-payment request. In Fuzebox, open the payments list and choose Generate Pay by Link. Select the merchant record, enter the amount, currency, payer reference and an alphanumeric transaction reference of up to 18 characters. Choose an expiry date and the configured application, then copy the resulting link for your customer.
The application needs tested payment notifications, and your user needs permission to create links. After the customer selects their bank and approves the transfer, your integration should verify Volt's signed notification. A successful initiation is not proof that the money arrived: Connect supplies a separate payment-received notification. Keep pending payments open for subsequent updates.
Onboarding starts with a merchant application. Volt requests company registration and ownership information, plus identification and recent proof of address for relevant owners and managers. Approval is followed by merchant terms and invitations for Fuzebox users. Discuss processing charges, treasury services and the intended countries during this review.
Payment timing follows the actual bank route. Volt lists same-day expectations for UK Faster Payments, seconds for Brazil's Pix and Australia's PayTo, and longer windows for some other transfers. Its timing guide uses working days, so the scheme selected by the bank matters when promising a customer a delivery date.
Strengths
- Fuzebox can download a QR code for a payment link, suitable for a printed invoice.
- The payment interface can also generate links programmatically for an existing billing system.
Watch out for
- Payment-link expiry cannot be set more than 30 days ahead.
- Banks may use a slower payment scheme even when Volt requests an instant transfer.
Best for
- Billing teams collecting bank payments from invoices and customer messages
- Merchants connecting several domestic bank-payment networks
