What it does
UNICEF WeShare provides photographs, video and other assets for authorized media and partner communication. Its terms require permission for specified uses and accurate representation of the people and situations depicted.
External applicants register with a professional email address and identify their organisation type. Access is intended for eligible UNICEF partners, UN staff and bona fide news media. UNICEF employees use their organisational sign-in route instead.
Written permission from authorised UNICEF staff is required for a specified, one-time use concerning UNICEF-supported issues or programmes. Preserve the real context and identity of the people depicted. Photos need the UNICEF and photographer credit; video needs the UNICEF video credit on screen.
The terms prohibit personal or commercial use, meaning-changing manipulation, generative-image processing and archiving in a non-UNICEF asset library. Corporate partners’ authorised editorial coverage of UNICEF support does not extend to product promotion or cause marketing.
Strengths
- The registration form distinguishes external applicants from UNICEF organisational sign-in.
- Terms spell out separate photo and on-screen video credits.
Watch out for
- Commercial and personal uses are excluded.
- Meaning-changing edits, generative-image processing and outside archiving are prohibited.
Best for
- Professional media and partners covering UNICEF-supported issues
