What it does

Whimsical combines wireframes, flowcharts and mind maps on collaborative boards. Teams can add interface components, comments, images and embedded videos in one workspace. Its Free plan permits 50 new board objects and 50 document blocks per month, while paid plans remove those creation limits.

Keep the flow beside the wireframe

Whimsical boards mix diagrams and drag-and-drop interface components, so a product flow can sit next to its rough screens. Multiplayer editing and comments support joint reviews. Uploaded images and embedded videos can explain a design decision without leaving the board.

Creation limits matter more than board count

Plan Main allowance
Free 50 board objects and 50 document blocks created monthly; seven-day history
Pro Unlimited objects and blocks, watermark-free exports and 90-day history
Business Private teams, administration controls and unlimited history

Free workspaces can have unlimited boards, members and guests, but the monthly object allowance still applies. Free exports carry a watermark. Viewers are free on every plan, and extra AI credits can be bought separately.

After signing up, choose a board template or add wireframe components directly. Use the version-history view to return to an earlier board when a review leads in a different direction.

Strengths

  • Wireframes, flowcharts and mind maps can share a board
  • Guests and viewers do not require paid editing seats
  • Boards support image uploads and video embeds

Watch out for

  • Free creation is capped at 50 board objects per month
  • Free exports are watermarked and history lasts seven days

Best for

  • Product planning that combines flows with rough interface layouts
