What it does

Windcave provides payment acceptance for online stores, in-person checkout and unattended environments such as kiosks. Payline brings transactions from different channels into a browser-based merchant portal. Merchant services are available in markets including New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Canada and the US, with quoted rates and account approval.

For collection without a custom checkout, PayForm gives customers a fixed web address where they enter an amount. Paylink sends a hosted payment page by email or SMS. Developers can use separate integration routes for online, attended and unattended payments.

To return a card payment, open Transaction Search, select the transaction and use its Refund tab.

Fees are agreed with the merchant and vary by country and payment mix. Windcave's merchant-services application asks for ID, address and bank-account documents. Existing Windcave merchants contact the team to add merchant services; new applicants use the online form.

Strengths

  • Payline supports manual card collection and recurring billing
  • The Xero integration adds Windcave as an invoice payment option

Watch out for

  • The merchant-services agreement has a 36-month term and cancellation charges
  • Refunds need merchant-account activation and are subject to daily limits

Best for

  • Businesses combining staffed shops, online sales and unattended machines
  • Finance teams reviewing payments from several sales channels
