What it does
Wio Personal combines everyday UAE banking with Saving Spaces and family money management. Two adult leads can co-own a Family account, while invited members receive controlled access through cards or Pockets. Account plans have different balance or salary conditions for avoiding monthly fees.
Wio Family separates the people who own the shared account from those invited to spend from it. Two existing Wio Personal customers can become adult leads with equal rights. Either lead can operate the balance independently, while account closure needs both people’s agreement.
Children aged eight to seventeen can use Pockets for an allowance and saving. Adults can receive shared virtual cards. Leads set card spending limits and expiry dates and see the overall dashboard; invited members see only their assigned access. Each member needs a unique mobile number. Removing a member in the app deactivates the Pocket and linked virtual card, returning its remaining balance to the Family account.
Saving Spaces can have a target and deadline. Flexible spaces keep earmarked money away from ordinary card spending until it is moved back to the current account. Fixed spaces have a chosen term and return principal and interest at maturity; early withdrawal can incur a penalty. Standard does not include Fixed Saving Spaces.
Personal plan costs
| Plan | Monthly fee | Route to no monthly fee |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | AED 25 | AED 3,000 average balance across qualifying accounts |
| Plus | AED 49 | AED 35,000 average balance across qualifying accounts |
| Salary | AED 0 | Qualifying salary transfer of at least AED 15,000 |
| Family | AED 49 | AED 35,000 combined qualifying balance, or an eligible lead’s salary transfer |
The Family salary waiver normally requires AED 15,000 monthly. Wio may offer a lower threshold through specific employer arrangements. The September 2026 tariff includes applicable VAT. Digital statements and local transfers are free, while some cash withdrawals and document requests cost extra.
Apply in the Wio Personal app with personal details and a selfie. Residents use Emirates ID; the separate arrival route accepts a UAE work visa. This is UAE-focused banking, with identity checks before the account can be used.
