What it does

MoneyWiz manages personal accounts, budgets and upcoming bills on iPhone, iPad and Mac. It supports manual records, financial file imports and optional bank synchronization, with budgets matched to categories or tags. Basic local tracking is free; subscriptions add synchronization between devices or with banks.

MoneyWiz lets a budget follow income or expense categories and tags. Moving an allocation between budgets reflects a changed plan without rewriting the purchases. For an existing finance history, imports include CSV, QIF, OFX and MT940, with duplicate handling and category matching.

Add recurring and one-time entries to the bill calendar to see what is coming. In Scheduled, press and hold a date for the forecast based on those entries. A forecast reflects the payments you have recorded, so an unentered bill will not be included. Reports export to CSV or PDF, and transaction exports from Accounts or Budgets let you choose a date range.

Free tracking and paid synchronization

The free app allows accounts, budgets and transactions without a numerical limit. These are the current US-dollar subscription prices on MoneyWiz's website; taxes may be added at checkout.

Option Price Main difference
Free No charge Local accounts, budgets and transactions
Standard US$29.99 a year Synchronization between devices
Premium US$5.99 a month or US$59.99 a year Adds bank synchronization

Creating a MoneyWiz account starts a one-week trial of the paid features. Subscriptions cover supported Apple devices, with up to 15 devices and two MoneyWiz Cloud accounts. Bank synchronization depends on whether a provider supports your institution; manual entry and file imports provide alternatives.

Strengths

  • Budgets can follow categories or tags, with allocations moved between them.
  • Scheduled payments feed a date-based forecast.
  • Reports and transaction exports support further analysis outside the app.

Watch out for

  • Bank synchronization requires Premium.
  • The current app is for Apple devices.

Best for

  • Apple-device users tracking bills and detailed personal accounts
  • People who want manual budgeting first and optional bank synchronization
