What it does
WordCount displays words, characters, sentences and reading time, with count cards, report printing and copied statistics.
Paste a draft or open DOCX, PDF, ODT, RTF, TXT or Markdown to count its extracted text. Copy stats, save a count card or print a report when the measurements need to accompany a handoff. Its rules join hyphenated and apostrophe forms into one word, split decimals at the point and count emoji as zero words. Chinese, Japanese and Thai use the browser's word segmenter, so results can differ between browsers. The free counter describes file reading and counting as local. Device drafts and goals persist locally; optional account saving and AI writing tools are separate routes, with AI text sent to a model.
