What it does

World Creator builds landscapes through procedural terrain tools, sculpting and surface materials. Environment artists can control where vegetation and other objects appear using slope, height, curvature or painted masks. The Windows application is sold through annual, perpetual and lifetime licences with revenue-based eligibility.

Scattering masks determine where objects can appear. Combine terrain measurements such as slope and height with noise, hand-painted areas or imported images. Density patterns then control distribution. Materials can use colour, normal and displacement maps imported from external libraries.

World Creator exports to applications including Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender and Cinema 4D. Indie limits terrain and export resolution to 8K; higher editions list unlimited resolution.

Compare perpetual licences

Edition One-time price, excluding VAT Eligibility
Indie US$149 Annual revenue or funding below US$100,000
Professional US$289 Individuals or one-person businesses up to US$200,000 annual revenue
Studio US$499 Companies with multiple employees, up to US$1 million annual revenue
Enterprise US$1,499 Organisations above US$1 million annual revenue

Perpetual purchases include a year of updates and remain usable when maintenance ends. Annual access starts at US$59 for eligible Indie users and ends with the subscription. Lifetime licences include future updates.

The announced Community Edition is still marked as coming soon. Its planned learning mode disables export and sync-export, so it is not an available route for producing free commercial assets.

Strengths

  • Scattering combines terrain measurements with painted or imported masks.
  • Surface maps can be brought in from existing material libraries.

Watch out for

  • The desktop application is Windows-only.
  • Indie output is capped at 8K, and each licence has eligibility conditions.

Best for

  • Environment artists designing terrain and scenery together
  • Game teams exporting landscape assets to their engine
