What it does

Worldline provides merchant payment acceptance, in-store and online services, and processing technology for financial institutions. Retailers can connect customer checkout with payment management across sales channels. The merchant offer is arranged through the relevant country team; live processing requires a paid account.

A shop should begin with the in-store or online merchant offer, then discuss its business country, customer markets and required payment methods with that team. Request the processing fees, equipment charges and settlement schedule for that particular arrangement.

For the Direct online gateway, create a test account using company and contact details and set the password through the email link. Choose how the checkout connects: a Hosted Checkout Page redirects customers, while a Hosted Tokenization Page embeds a form and returns a reusable payment reference. A custom server connection or mobile software development kit provides other integration routes.

Before production setup, the testing guide covers successful, declined and uncertain transaction results, plus card-authentication scenarios. Complete the production-account setup in the Merchant Portal to move the integration into live use. The developer portal also separates Direct from Global Collect, so use the guide for the platform named in your merchant agreement.

Strengths

  • Template Builder previews changes to a hosted payment page’s appearance.
  • MyPerformance provides transaction dashboards and payment-performance metrics without an additional charge for the insights tool.

Watch out for

  • A self-hosted Direct integration requires the merchant to handle card details in its own system.

Best for

  • Retailers comparing connected store and ecommerce acceptance
  • Development teams choosing a Worldline checkout integration
  • Financial institutions researching separate processing services
